STAR stands for “Specialized Therapy and Rehab.” But STAR is much more than rehabilitation.
STAR is an intensive, personalized program that is patient-centered and service-oriented – and it’s available only at rehab facilities staffed by Premier Therapy Services. This exclusive, specialized program offers the very finest in rehab services for a wide range of conditions, including:
- Orthopedic
- Joint replacement
- Cardiovascular
- Stroke
- Post-surgical
The goal of the STAR program is to promote independent living by improving our patient’s mobility and lifestyle capabilities to the appropriate optimal level. To achieve this, we create for each patient a customized “Milestones Plan.” This plan is developed by an interdisciplinary team composed of physicians, rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, social workers and other clinical specialists.
Once the plan is created, the real work begins, as the Premier Therapy Services team takes over, working with the patient, sometimes seven days a week, to achieve real, measurable results.
Making rehab more positive and pleasant for patients
To make the rehab process more enjoyable for our STAR patients, the program also includes “extras” to brighten their days while they’re staying in the rehab center. These “extras” normally include tastefully-decorated patient rooms, private phones, TVs, movies, recreational activities, gourmet dining choices and Internet access. In some locations, private rooms may also be available.

The STAR credo
STAR is not just a unique rehab program; it’s also a philosophy based on actively seeking to improve the lives of patients. Our credo:
- Respect the dignity and privacy of patients, families and allied professionals.
- Enter into a dialogue between staff and patients to agree on goals of rehab program
- Communicate regularly with physicians and professional staff
- Convey information and listen to the concerns of patients
- Recognize that a patient’s family-and-friend network is an integral part of the recovery process
- Ensure that our patients recover in comfort, with menu and recreational choices that address their preferences
- Select staff who not only possess excellent skills in their discipline but also show attentiveness and sensitivity towards each patient.
- Ask for feedback from our clients and address their wishes, issues and concerns promptly.
